Perez, Claudio.

Santiago de Chile: Editorial Klaus, Casa Isla Negra , 2015. 1st ed. [4]p., b+w photos, wrps; folding pages New Wraps An "anti-portrait" of Nicanor Parra, himself known for his "anti-poems" which challenged literary conventions when they first appeared in his 1954 work Poemas y antipoemas. Perez's portraits translate the desire to demystify poetry to the photography. As Perez recounts in a brief introductory essay, Parra was a reluctant subject. The book reproduces a 35 image contact sheet and arranges three of the images in a sequence that shows Parra 1) fully exposed, as in a traditional headshot, 2) partially covering his face, 3) completely covering his face with both hands. Signed and numbered by Perez. First edition of 20 copies (Item ID: 172621)
