Cartonera which translates and anthologizes the poetry of "neo-antropofagistas." Antropofagia was a literary and cultural retaliation against modernism's primitivist interests, particularly allegations of cannibalism in Brazil's non-Western cultures. First articulated in a 1928 manifesto, the editor of this cartonera edition of antropogagista poetry includes a manifesto of his own attacking cultural cannibalism and kitsch--from samba music to World Cup victories to the exoticization of mulatas, happy hours, favelas and capoeira alike.
