This facsimile edition is accompanied by a conversation with Esteban Valdés, as well as texts by Marina Reyes Franco, Sofía Gallisá Muriente and Nicolás Pradilla that outline the political and artistic context in which the book is published as a correlate of the Puerto Rican independence struggle.. In 1977, Esteban Valdés published Out of Work, the first book of concrete poetry to be released in Puerto Rico. The works contained in the book cover ten years of production, and range from word games to constructions based on typography and instructions for carrying out actions and making sculptures. Outside of Work is divided into seven sections, the poems grouped by theme and visual style.
