The author José Cantón Navarro, is a member of an old communist family from Pinar del Rio Province, first recruited by Stalinist master agent "Fabio" Grobart. The book only has some usefulness as a guide to the bent of the propaganda of the Castro regime. One notes immediately the distortion of Cuban history, in this marxist alternate universe, dictator Gerardo Machado was overthrown by the Cuban communist party; however, in the real world the communist alliance with Machado, named by Grobart in his apologia "El Error de Agosto" (The Error of August) was an absolute failure and Machado fell anyway. Thus, this books main use is as a compendium of the falsehoods to be found in official Castro histories. For instance, during the Bay of Pigs most authors describe a very large number of communist militia casualties* (perhaps as high as 5,000) which one can readily attribute to ruthless Soviet style tactics.
