From among the vast work of Baroja, Manuel Sol studies the narrative structure and rhetoric of Camino de perfection, according to the following treatment: he approaches the structure of the text starting with the concept of structure and the division of Camino de perfection; identifies the “purifying, illuminating and unitive” stages; describes the evolution and significance of the characters; describes Baroja's relationship with modernism, and finally analyzes the modernist rhetoric used in the novel, in relation to an impressionist vision, and highlights his importance in the Spanish literature of the generation of '98.
