"Historia de San Germán" present a series of historical data related to the town of San Germán, from the 16th century to the beginning of the 18th century. The emergence of this information is due to the intense search that was carried out while we were doing our doctoral thesis research. Most of the documentation found was not used for our dissertation. After seeing other works carried out in the past by researchers from the southwestern area, we realized that part of this material is not known by Sangermian historiography. So it is one of the reasons that moves us to expose the findings found. The material below offers us a broader and clearer vision of the old San Germán. Where its principles were established in the northwest and almost at the end of the sixteenth century, It was located in the Lomas de Santa Marta. Here topics related to the militia, the powerful families of the town and others of notable interest will be discussed. The purpose of this exhibition is to add more history than what the town preserves today.
One of the great attributes of this new publication is the names of people found in various documents. Many of them unknown in the historiography of the Southwest. These surnames and names are a valuable source for friends doing their genealogical studies. Especially, the 16th to 18th centuries, which are characterized by having very little existing parish information.
